Negative Space Stripes

Hello lovelies! Today's post is another negative space mani that I did last week; I tried a few different designs out before I settled on the simple blue and gray stripes. I really like the gray diagonal stripes on my index finger, they were so easy and quick to do.

I used Babe It's Blue by Maybelline Color Show and Metropolitan by L'Oreal.

There's not much else to say just because it's such a simple design, so that's all for today! Thanks for reading.

31DC2014: Day 12 - Stripes

Hello lovelies! Today is stripes day and it's no surprise what design I went with today, the simple layered stripes I originally learnt from this tutorial.

I used the following polishes:
Metropolitan - L'Oreal
Make Mine Mango - Revlon
Manic Panic - Australis
Did It On 'Em - OPI

I love how these turned out, ever since I reorganised my collection I told myself I need to start using other polishes other than Ulta3 and Essie so I branched out with this design and picked polishes I haven't used for a while. I'm very happy I did because these were a great combo!

Inspired by... Part One

I've decided to start my first series! Each Monday, for however long I follow through with this idea, I'll be posting nails that have been 'inspired by' something. This could be a range of things such as, other designs by nail artists - including tutorials, books, art, photographs, fashion etc, etc. I'm hoping this kicks me out of my comfort zone full of gradients and dotticures because I need to learn new techniques and get as much practice as I can.

First up, I have nails inspired by this tutorial from The Nailasaurus. I've seen her do these waterfall nails numerous times, yet I was never confident enough to try them out myself until I saw her video tutorial on them and saw just how simple it really is. I did realise though that my nails probably aren't the best shape for them as they aren't that wide. But I stuck to it and quickly did the design. I used colours that were already on my desk, so that was a lazy move, but I think they turned out okay. They aren't the best, but at least now I've done it once so I can only get better from this point.

I also chucked in a gradient for good measure, because I can never stop myself when it comes to gradients. It's not the best, but I didn't really take my time with this mani even though I should have. 

The colours I used were:
Bikini So Teeny - Essie
Misty Jade - Rimmel
Grapetini - Savvy
Metropolitan - L'Oreal

NOTD: L'Oreal - Metropolitan

L'Oreal have stolen my heart again with this amazing colour. I'm a big fan of gray nail polish and have been on a never ending search to find the perfect gray and I think I've done it. Metropolitan is the most amazing shade of gray I've ever come across. It's light enough so that it doesn't look too gloomy but it's also dark enough to not come across as a silver or light blue. This photo is without a top coat as well so it's very shiny on it's own. I'm in love with it.

I used French Riviera - L'Oreal and the cling wrap method in the photo below and I like how it turned out! French Riviera has some small blue specks in it that I forgot to get a photo of, but I'll eventually swatch that colour by itself and show you all. 

You may notice I filed my nails down a bit and rounded them off more, I love this length and shape a lot more than I thought I loved long square ones. They just kept breaking too often.

NOTD: L'Oreal 811 Magic Croisette

I am so in love with this colour it's ridiculous. I've worn it a few times but I had to post about it this week. I originally stole this from my sister at the start of the year and she never wanted it back so I kept it. It goes on a little awkwardly if you don't have enough of the brush, but that's obvious, the brush is wide and covered the whole of each of my nails brilliantly and two coats is perfect for it. The only downside is that it's such a small bottle, only 5ml so I think I'm almost out of it, which means I'll have to buy my own this time, if it's still around that is.

In the right light it has subtle hints of green to it and you can see that when you look at the bottle as well, which I should have taken a photo with but I can never get it to look natural and not awkward, oh well. I really do love this colour, I think it could be one of my favourites and I always forget about it because it's the only L'Oreal polish I have.
