Distressed Bleached Neon Nail Art

Hello everyone!

I recently did these distressed nails with three out of four of the Bleached Neons Collection from Maybelline with a black base. I then mattified it to get that chalkboard-ish look. I loved how they turned out, even after adding the small studs from Essence.

I started with some white polish so that the colours would still pop when I applied them. I like the effect! Very washed out and chalky looking.

That's all for tonight! Thanks for reading.

31DC2014: Day 16 - Geometric

Hi everyone! Today's prompt is geometric and I was actually looking forward to it after my little experiment with shapes for day six, but the last two days at work have been quite busy so I didn't have a lot of time to plan anything out. But last night I was browsing through a Google images of geometric shapes and suddenly I thought of an idea and quickly drew it down so I'd remember it today!

The design isn't anything special and I only did it as an accent nail because I knew I wouldn't be able to concentrate long enough to do it on all four of my nails (I don't paint both hands in the challenge or even my thumb nail, it's just a waste). I was already getting frustrated with the first piece of striping tape so I'm glad I only did one nail. I grabbed a few glitter polishes and chose one for another accent nail. Then, just to add something a little extra to the mani, I put some studs from this kit on the plain coloured nails. I don't love the studs though, I bought them a while ago just so I would have them in my collection but I'm not a fan!

The teal colour is Suzi Says Feng Shui - OPI, the purple is Liberty - W7 and the glitter is Luna Love - Rimmel (Space Dust Collection). I am in looove with the glitter; I bought two space dust polishes months ago but never really used them because I forgot about them, but they're amazing!

Looking at the pictures makes me realise that yep, I definitely hate the studs, they just look funny on my nails I think. Oh well, I experimented haha.

31DC2014: Day 15 - Delicate Print

Hey everyone! Today's post will be a quick because these are very simple nails and don't require much explaining. I'm not someone who does a lot of delicate print nail art, so I always struggled with this prompt but as soon as I saw these in Priceline the other week I knew exactly what I would do for today.

I did these nails about a week ago, so that's why they're a bit longer than yesterday's post. The nail lace tips, which I linked to above, were $2.75AUD in Priceline, which is an absolute bargain. They're a part of one of Essence's many trend editions. I love going into Priceline and seeing what their new trend is because it's always different and there's always at least one good product, if not more.

I started with a base of Fun In The Gondola by Essie, and then picked one column of lace tips to use and matched them to my nail shape as best I could. They looked really nice and despite some being a little bit too small, or slightly going over my free edge (nothing you can't fix with some filing) I enjoyed how cute and pretty they looked.

That's it for today! Thanks for reading!

31DC2014: Day 1 - Red

Hello there and welcome to this year's 31 Day Nail Art Challenge, I'm very excited to be doing this again and I think I'll do a lot better than I did last year now that I've got a year's worth of practice under my belt!

If you've been following me for a year, you'll remember that I hate the colour red. I have never liked it and I very rarely wear it, except on my lips. But this was an easy prompt for me because I was inspired by my bottle of Dot by Marc Jacobs. It's one of my favourite perfumes; my nana gave it to me for my 21st birthday last year.

I used Fame Fatal by Essence and Black Satin by Ulta3. I then top coated with Seche Vite, which I'm trying to get used to again, but as I had done the red dots on the black base twice, they were very bumpy so I top coated those nails twice which didn't do much as it was still bumpy.

So that's it for day 1 of the challenge! I'll be back tomorrow with some orange nails! :)

Blue Leopard Print

I have to admit, after this mani, leopard print is growing on me. But only for nails, and in cute colours that are opposite to the generic leopard print. It's just a simple, fun design and with a coloured background and black and white print, it can pretty much go with anything. I never thought I'd like this design. Guess it just goes to show that you've got to try it out to really judge it.

The blue base is Let's Get Lost - Essence. When I first bought this polish, I used it on my toes and for some silly reason I didn't use Essence's 24/7 Base, which is amazing at preventing staining. I'm on my second bottle in only a few months. So because I didn't use it, it stained my toenails like crazy, and even the skin around them. I had to use a bi-carb soda (baking soda) paste to remove the stains. This time around, I used the base I should have and I'm hoping it won't stain when I take it off later. Otherwise this polish is just ruined for me.

Anyway, the black and white are my go-to black and white's which I've repeated enough in previous posts. I topped with Seche Vite and I'm sad to say that I think it might need thinning soon. It's becoming a bit too thick for my liking. Does anyone know any good polish thinners?

That's it for today! There should be some more posts up this week. Happy Monday everyone!
